The Dawn by sculptor101 The Dawn by sculptor101
I seldom make one of a kind sculpture and color it. This rose sculpture is something that I have tried recently. Painted with acrylic paints and a couple layers of matte varnish.

Incredible job Alex!  You never fail to bring the details out, from the veins to the cut stem.  Beautiful paint job as well!

Thanks! It's the first I tried a life size rose in sculpture. You may see the comparison of my hand haha... 99 Plus 1 Roses - Happy Valentine's Day!!

Thanks! I tried my best to paint as realistic as possible. It can be even better if I spend more time in it. ^^

Wow, it looks so realistic! The leaves look so thin I'd probably be paranoid because of fearing I'd accidentally break them o_o how hard does sculpey mass that thin even become, does it bend or fracture easily?

It's not that hard in thin area, some areas I add armatures wires inside. After baked should be ok. Although still need a mix of thickness but basically it is strong enough if you don't play with it often when finished.

Geesh, it's so hard to believe that someone is even capable of sculpting something like this. Wonderful,  wonderful job as always!

I liked its appearance when I made the clay model too. For the same method that I should be able to make more natural scenes!! So glad that you like it too FluffHuggle!

I love how much colour you've been able to pack into this whilst still maintaining the realism, this is an absolutely beautiful piece!

I tried to make it feels like a friend of mine, she was in a really sad situation. This was a gift that I mde for her without notice. I love her dearly like a family. Hope this little gift may make her happy again and recovered.

Thanks!! Super Sculpey is really good for making flowers because you can make it very thin and form it freely. ^^

that looks great, you should do this more often :3 If you have the time ofcourse...
Mass production items have often a horrible paint job </3

I'd love to do it more often! I have seen some artists here making casting and painted themselves in small quantity or limited number. The other way that some companies make mass production from paying my prototypes.
Sometime I think of should I either make sculptures for living or for just for pleasure. It's hard for almost everybody here. But we'll just need to find the balance in between... ~___~
