Year of Horse 2014! Happy New Year!! by sculptor101 Year of Horse 2014! Happy New Year!! by sculptor101
Happy New Year!!

It's the year of horse in Chinese 2014.

As a Chinese/ American, I do wish these horses will bring lucks to everyone.
They are war horses in different forms. I sculpted them according to carousel
horses instead of real horses. They are about the size of the whole palm of mine.
Hope you like them!! ^^

Alex Liao

Size: approximately 15x15cm
Final product: pewter, gold plating

gorgeous work.  Though, when I saw "war horses" I thought I'd be seeing something distinctly arabian or a heavy draft horse like a Clydesdale.  Anyway, it looks great!  The detailing on the saddles and armor are well done, as always.

I do wish if I can make some real cool war horses. This client wants antique carousel horses so I'd just fellow the reference.

I love the details on the third image but my favorite definitely goes to the first one because of the pose, mane, and muscles.

Wow, these are absolutely stunning! Did you have the references to hand while sculpting them or do you just have a fantastic knowledge of horse anatomy? :P

I think I have chosen the 3rd one down as my lucky horse, it is magnificent!

Happy New Year! :)

Thanks! Yes, I have the reference of antique carousel horse book from my client. One picture of each. Sort of black and white.

May that horse takes you to your destiny 2014! ^^

Happy new year!!

The reference I got from my client is antique wood carving carousel horses. The first horse did take much longer time for the low relief. I think I would like to make another armor horse for myself because the imagination is endless. Probably the horse won't even move at all in reality... haha... ^^
